Therapies

On-site occupational, speech, and physical therapists provide specialized programs to help residents receive the greatest possible level of independence and rehabilitation.

  Physical Therapy :
Marycrest utilizes exercises helpful to our elders. According to the April 2002 issue of the Journal of Gerontology, "biological sciences, resistance training exercises just one day a week can give older adults the strength to maintain independence and to avoid injuries" (Researchers Scott Trappe, David Williamson, and Michael Godard).
  Speech Therapy:
Our speech therapy professionals and language pathologists work with our elders to resolve communication, memory and eating and swallowing problems. Therapists establish effective ways for the elders to have their needs and wants communicated. They also help resolve swallowing difficulties such as dysphagia. When memory is affected by illness, the speech therapists assist with compensatory techniques to help improve independence..
  Occupational Therapy:
Our occupational therapists help each person to focus uniquely on his/her activities of daily living. Together we generate ways of creating a unique environment that is totally centered on teach individual person's current capabilities.
  Restorative Therapy:
The restorative therapy program works together with other therapists, other staff members and family. Individually designed programs help each resident to address his/her pain management, maintain or increase strength, endurance flexibility, and foster fulfillment, happiness and emotional well-being.
